Nigeria's Historic Transition: Open letter to the Key Players.

Your Excellencies,
I join the vast majority of Nigerians, who at this historic moment found it very important and thoughtful to put to writing their reflections about the March 28th 2015 Presidential election whose result birthed this historic transition.

I belong to the category of Nigerians that played one of the most critical roles in the birth of this historic moment. I am a registered voter who confidently exercised his franchise in the polls. May I also reiterate the fact that I also belong to the category of Nigerians that get affected Positively/Negatively by all policies, problem(s), mistakes and/improper decisions of the Nigerian Government.

That said, am delighted I could grab this rare opportunity to write and share my reflections about the polls and the historic transition with the ever attentive Nigerians.

Congratulations to Dr Goodluck Jonathan GCFR, whose tenure constitutionally ends in a few hours. That may seem weird and improper because he "lost" at the election and would be leaving office in a few hours, but I bet you would all agree with me that Dr Jonathan has earn himself a place in history with his sense of humility, transparency, sportsmanship and respect for the will of the people.

This rare democrat could be described as the most criticized President in the annals of Nigeria, yet he didn't see that as an excuse to ban press freedom. His administration also championed the passage of the Freedom of Information Bill (FOI).

His achievements during his stay in office were numerous and definitely would stand the test of time. He gave us his best amidst strong opposition and criticism both within and outside the country.

Am not absolving Dr Jonathan of his mistakes and faults, he sure did make some costly decisions and mistake. "A man that has never made a mistake hasn't tried something new".

Dr Jonathan is leaving office as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but he is not leaving without a legacy of free, fair, transparent and credible elections, productive economy, stable Democratic process unlike previous administrations who couldn't achieve all of these even though they spent the maximum 8years in office.

If you think Jonathan isn't deserving of my praises, you might want to have a rethink when you remember what happened in Ivory Coast when Laurent Gbagbo refuses to step down peacefully after he lost in the election. History won't forget so soon how his call to Gen Muhammadu Buhari averted a possible outrage that could have led to loss of several lives of innocent Nigerians. Dr Jonathan is one of Nigeria's greatest democratic hero!

Hearty Congratulations to Incoming President Muhammadu Buhari. Your steadfastness is worthy of emulation. I salute your conduct before, during and after the polls. You've demonstrated to us, the people of Nigeria, that you're truly a converted democrat.

Do not see your triumph at the election as an avenue to mock or witch hunt your opponent(s), rather, I'll advise you see it as a challenge to deliver to us, the people of Nigeria, the numerous promises you made to us during your campaign. Govern Nigeria with the fear of Almighty Allah and remember you'll give an account of your stewardship to him one day!

I pray for God's guidance for you and everyone that would be part of your administration ass you assume office as President, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Kind Regards,
