SPORTS: BAYERN WOULD MESS UP MESSI’S PENALTY LIKE HENRY & PIRES DID!----Thiago
The playmaker, who once lined up alongside the Barcelona star at Camp Nou, admits Bayern Munich have not discussed the possibility of repeating the Argentine's spot-kick trick
Bayern Munich's stars have lauded the creativity of Lionel Messi's recent penalty assist, though Thiago says they will need to practice a lot if they want to pull it off themselves.
The Barcelona star rolled the ball to Luis Suarez from the penalty spot against Celta Vigo on Sunday, rather than shooting himself, with the trick dividing fans and pundits over whether it was genius or disrespectful.
But former team-mate Thiago is in no doubt about the skill involved, and fears he and his Bayern team-mates would repeat Thierry Henry and Robert Pires' fumbled effort back in 2005 if they were to attempt it.
"That is part of football," Thiago told reporters. "You can do tricks or you can do hard tackles. But with tackles nobody is complaining. If some people have a problem with that, they should go home."
On whether Bayern might attempt the trick against Juventus in Turin, he added: "I don't know, Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller are the ones who take penalties.
"But you're right, I should know it if I have to run in otherwise we could fail like Pires and Henry!"
Douglas Costa, criticised for a trick performed against Bayer Leverkusen earlier this season, also weighed in on the debate over whether Messi's penalty was disrespectful.
"I don't understand that," he said. "In football you should try new things and be creative. Messi's penalty was great. People, who don't get along with that, shouldn't talk about it."
