Femi Okurounmu, in an interview with the Punch, published on Sunday, June 4, said each time the Hausa-Fulani cabal feel threatened that power might slip from their hands, they think of a coup.

Speaking on the backdrop of a recent statement by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General TY Buratai, that he received information that some individuals have been approaching some officers and soldiers for undisclosed political reasons, the Afenifere leader said the chief of army staff was only flying a kite to see how people will react if there is a coup.
He said: "It is the Hausa-Fulani cabal – each time they feel threatened that power might slip from their hands, they think of a coup. All other coups save for the (Kaduna) Nzeogwu and (Gideon) Orkar coups, were all planned by the northerners.
"They did not want a repeat of what happened during the late President Umaru Yar'Adua when (Goodluck) Jonathan became president. So, they are already preparing to retain the presidency in case anything happens to President Buhari."
Okurounmu stated that Nigerians deserve to know the condition of their president's health if they were the ones that elected him as president.
He said the president's health issue should be of public knowledge because he is no more a private person.

Citing the case of a former president late Umaru Yar'Adua, Okupe said the northerners are scared that what happened in 2010 after Yar'Adua's death might happen again.
He said every Nigerian and politicians know that although not in the Constitution, Zoning is a major issue which must be adhered to in Nigeria.
Okupe further warned that the northerners are only scared of such happening and thus the agitation for a northern president in 2019.
