There are two key words that focus the reader's attention on the subject of this article: VTEK beyond just a Producer and the mentioned of P-Square's name in the heading. One accentuates and influences the other. Dangote Group Truck Crushes 2nd Republic Senator To Death

A truck belonging to Dangote Group Plc, on Friday, crushed Mr. Mukhtar Abdulkarim, a Second Republic Senator, to death. Mr. Abdulkarim, along with his brother and driver, was traveling between Kano and Zamfara states on Friday when the truck rammed into his car, killing him instantly. His brother, Mr. Buhari Abdulkarim, an architect, and his driver were injured in the accident. Both are are said to be receiving medical attention at Uthman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto. The late senator, an indigene of Talata Mafara, was born in Zurmi, Zamfara State. He was a civil servant, politician, educator, and active culture enthusiast. He was also a poet and novelist. Some of his literary works include The Best of Those Days, Gone Beyond Redemption, The Poems of Reflection, The Politics Of Skyline, The Poems For The New Generation, The Books Of Poems For Inspiration, The Men Who Have Failed, Ayashe: Crying Over The Lost Glory, and Bagobiri For Sale And Other Poems.

Fayemi Slams Fayose for ‘Doomsday’ Predictions

Minister of Mines and Steel Development Kayode Fayemi has berated Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose for his doomsday predictions about the nation in 2017. Fayemi assured Nigerians that 2017 will be a year of greatness, buoyancy, fulfillment and accomplishments for the country and its inhabitants. He said "Fayose risked being a beneficiary of his latest unsavoury predictions". The minister spoke after a special Christmas thanksgiving service held at St. Martins' Catholic Church, Isan-Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area. Like 2015, when he predicted 20 things that will be experienced in 2016, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, has once again predicted about 22 things that would happen in Nigeria in 2017. Fayose This is coming barely nine days to the new year. Fayose, in a statement personally signed by him, Friday, said: "Fellow Nigerians, remember I predicted 20 things that will be experienced this year 2016. Almost 90 percent of what the Holy Spirit led me to predict came to pass. "The Holy Spirit has once again led me to tell Nigerians what may happen in 2017. We therefore need prayer to avert further calamities in Nigeria. May God help our country." FG DISCLOSES: Crude Oil Discovered in Borno State

ABUJA—After several months of exploration activities, Borno State has joined the league of oil-producing states in Nigeria, as the Federal Government, yesterday, said crude oil had been discovered in the state. Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Jamila Shua'ra, disclosed this during the agreement signing ceremony for joint venture, JV, cash call exit and presentation of the petroleum sector score card in Abuja. Shua'ra, however, failed to state the particular area in Borno State where oil was discovered and if the discovery was in commercial quantity. She attributed the discovery of oil in Borno and Lagos states to the doggedness of the present administration. FG rolls out 10-point roadmap to Revive Economy

The federal government has outlined a 10-point fiscal roadmap to reset the economy to a path of growth. The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun revealed the outline when she represented Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, at the annual dinner of the Lagos Business School. She itemised the fiscal policies and actions to be rolled out to tackle the key barriers to growth. Adeosun noted that "the Federal Government's Fiscal Roadmap is addressing barriers to growth that will drive productivity, generate jobs and broaden wealth creating opportunities to achieve inclusive growth." She stated that the Muhammadu Buhari administration is determined to convert Nigeria to a productive economy rather than one that is consumption driven. Court Grants order to arrest, sack Amaechi, Onu

Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Abuja Division has granted an order of mandamus seeking the arrest and immediate sack of Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and his Science and Technology counterpart, Ogbonnaya Onu, over recent allegations levelled against them by two justices of the Supreme Court. The applicant, Human Rights Foundation International, sought the order in its substantive suit where it prayed the court to compel the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to "perform their statutory obligations" by immediately arresting and prosecuting the two ministers. The group also sought an order of mandamus compelling President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately sack both ministers "in the interest of the public and morality" based on allegations of attempts to influence court decisions as claimed by the two jurists. NYSC member bleeds to death in Bayelsa

Yenagoa—A female member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Miss Elechi, posted to Bayelsa State, has reportedly died of a strange ailment. The deceased, aged 27, a graduate of Ignatius Azuru University of Education, Port Harcourt in Rivers State, died at about 9p.m., Tuesday night, five days after arriving NYSC Orientation Camp. Though the cause of her death could not be immediately ascertained, sources said she was bleeding and vomiting few hours after her arrival at the camp at Kaiama in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of the state. Some of her colleagues claimed that the deceased, on arrival at the camp last Thursday, was looking "terribly" sick and could not participate in some opening activities at the camp. An official of NYSC, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: "This is a case of non-disclosure of state of health by a corps member."
