We are addressing recession with wrong tools —CBN

Image
ABUJA— The on-going economic recession has persisted owing to application of wrong prescription by non-professionals, the Director of Policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr. Moses Tule, has contended. The CBN chief spoke at the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, CIBN, roundtable meeting organised on the current economic recession in Abuja on Tuesday. His words: "Some came in as doctors into the macro-economic management and are giving the tools of medical doctors to advise on how to solve the problem of recession. Some came in as carpenters and they are using carpentry tools to advise on the problems of economic recession; some came in as engineers and they are using their tools to advise on how to address economic recession. "They have not allowed the professionals to do their jobs. They have not allowed the professional to provide the direction." According to the director, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) had, since early last year, consistently w...

Drake & Rihanna Dominate Pandora's List of 2016's Most 'Thumbed-Up' Songs

Image
You might not need another chart to tell you that Drake and Rihanna owned the last 12 months, but just in case, Pandora essentially announced as much with its Top Thumb Hundred list for 2016 -- listing the service's "most thumbed-up" tracks of the year -- revealed on Wednesday morning (Nov. 30). Drake appears on a staggering 14 of the list's 100 entries, while Rihanna appears on five -- with two of the list's top three coming from her ANTI album. Given the two superstars' ubiquity on the Pandora rankings, you can probably guess the No. 1 song: "Work," the pair's Billboard Hot 100-conquering collaboration from January. Other artists faring well among the Thumb Hundred include Justin Bieber (four songs, led by "Love Yourself" at No. 4), Future (eight songs, including Drake collab "Jumpman" at No. 10) and Beyoncé (three songs in the top 40, and a key namecheck on Lil Durk and Dej Loaf's "My Beyonce," No. 96). EKITI 2018: I Don't Know The Political Party or Personality that I Will like to Succeed Me Yet-- FAYOSE

Image
Fayose "We are still studying the situation . We have to play the game left, right and centre and whoever we are going to use and the platform, you will all be part of the process because party politics is about the people". Fayose also said the victory of Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the Saturday's governorship poll in Ondo State does not in any way threaten the popularity and general acceptability of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Ekiti. The governor, who described Akeredolu's victory at the poll as a contrivance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in cahoot with APC, added that the victory the did not confer legitimacy on the poll or lent credence to the fact that Ondo electorate had voted rightly. "You all saw how people sold their votes in Ondo state, I am confident that that will not happen in Ekiti. I am close to the people you are the source of my strength . Even if it requires ju...

GOVERNOR AYODELE FAYOSE ASKS INEC 21 QUESTIONS..... Check Here

Image
Democracy on trial in Ondo State, INEC has merged with APC At the early hours of today, information came in that the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof Kayode Soremekun, who was the INEC Returning Officer in the recently concluded Edo State governorship election that is still a subject of litigation, will also serve as the Returning Officer for the Ondo State election. The questions that came to my mind were; is Prof Kayode Soremekun the only Vice Chancellor in Nigeria? Is FUOYE the only federal university in Nigeria? Is Ekiti the only State where INEC can find Returning Officers? Definitely, INEC is up to a sinister game on the Ondo State election and it is obvious that the electoral commission is working with the All Progressives Congress (APC). This belief was further made manifest by the response of Prof Soremekun to a SMS and a call, saying that he was only being used as decoy by INEC. This was further corroborated by the INEC Resident Electoral C...

Toyin Aimakhu’s ex, Seun Egbegbe clears the air about his alleged stealing of iPhones

Image
Seun Egbegbe, who is an ex of Nollywood actress, Toyin Aimakhu has addressed the news that took over the internet yesterday, alleging, he stole some iPhones from Computer village in Ikeja. Read his statement below: "My attention has been drawn to an online publication of the aforementioned. The story is pretty laughable and better left in the court of public opinion. Ordinarily, 1 do not want to join issues with the writer of the publication but I have a responsibility to set the records straight for my fans, friends and foes , in the defence of the truth. To say the least, the news did not only grossly misinform unsuspecting public; it also portrays traces of campaign of calumny by some mercenary hirelings hell bent in destroying my name, for reasons best known to them. Having read with keen interest the completely self-serving spirited attempt to destroy my person, it has become imperative and timely that a rejoinder is written to state the fact clearly. I want to state here c...

BREAKING IN LAGOS: Lagos Cancels Monthly Environmental Sanitation Day

Image
The Lagos State Government on Wednesday terminated the monthly environmental sanitation exercise which hitherto held for three hours on the last Saturday of every month. The State Government, in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, said the decision to cancel the monthly exercise followed a resolution arrived at Wednesday's Executive Council meeting which approved the need for a robust review of the environmental laws and procedures in the state in order to meet the present day challenges and to promote a clean and healthy environment. The Government noted that considering the present economic situation in the country, it was no longer appropriate to restrict movement of people for three hours in a mega city like Lagos at a time they should be pursuing commercial and entrepreneurial activities. According to government, in the last two decades, Lagos has grown exponentially into a mega city with the attendant huge environmental problems...

Fayose Calls for Postponement of Ondo Election....Read His Reasons Here

Image
NEC should postpone Ondo election in the spirit of fairness -Fayose Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) to postpone the Ondo State gubernatorial election slated for Saturday 26th November, 2016 in the spirit of fairness. The governor said this at the Ekiti State Government House while reacting to Justice Salauwa's Wednesday ruling which ordered INEC to return Eyitayo Jegede's name as the PDP candidate for the Ondo election. "My opinion, in the spirit of fairness because this fault is from INEC, there were two judgments, the only one INEC was part of was that of Jegede, in a similar situation like the Edo election, there was no basis for INEC's action, for me, it was INEC's deliberate action to undermine this party and the people of Nigeria. So, if INEC will be fair, if Nigerians want the leader that the people of Ondo State wants, they should create this level playing ground and allow a postpo...

Ondo Bombshell: How Jegede floored Jimoh Ibrahim at Appellate Court

Image
ABUJA – The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has declared Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, as the rightful candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the Ondo governorship election billed for Saturday. In an unanimous judgment, the Justice Ibrahim Saulawa led three-man Special Panel of the appellate court, vacated the June 29 judgement of Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which directed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to recognise Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim as PDP gubernatorial candidate for the poll. Jegede had approached the appellate court to challenge the high court verdict which ordered INEC to only relate with the Ali Modu-Sheriff faction of the PDP. Justice Abang had on October 14, also re-affirmed his decision, even as he warned the electoral body against accepting any candidate nominated by the Senator Ahmed Markafi-led National Caretaker Committee of the PDP. ADULTS CORNER: My Husband not Always in the Mood to Have Sex

Image
I've heard plenty of stories about women who don't want to have sex, but what if it's your husband who has little interest? Mine has no physical problems, no extramarital affairs that I know of – he's just never in the mood. How should I deal with this? Nkechi, by e-mail. Dear Nkechi, Sexual mismatch is one of the most common conflict in couples. It's pretty rare that both partners want the same amount of sex at the same time. As you pointed out, people assume it's usually the wife saying "not tonight" and the husband getting hurt and angry, but many couples suffer from his loss of libido and her pain at being turned down. Men, like women, can lose interest when they're stressed, depressed, or having trouble with a partner. Ask whether something is bothering him and be open to the answer. Tell him how much his sexual attention matters to you. Then suggest something out of the ordinary – a position, activity, or place you're never tried before...

SCIENCE WORLD: Composition of Earth’s Mantle Revisited

Image
Research published last week in Science suggested that the makeup of the Earth's lower mantle, which makes up the largest part of the Earth by volume, is significantly different than previously thought. The work, performed at the Advanced Photon Source at the U.S. Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory, will have a significant impact on our understanding of the lower mantle, scientists said. Understanding the composition of the mantle is essential to seismology, the study of earthquakes and movement below the Earth's surface, and should shed light on unexplained seismic phenomena observed there. Though humans haven't yet managed to drill further than seven and a half miles into the Earth, we've built a comprehensive picture of what's beneath our feet through calculations and limited observation. We all live atop the crust, the thin outer layer; just beneath is the mantle, outer core and finally inner core. The lower portion of the mantle is the lar...
